And 7 p.m. tomorrow night marks their big 1stBank Center debut.
It's a round-robin between the Dolls' three "home teams:" the Bad Apples, the Green Barrettes and the Shotgun Betties. The teams will play each other for half an hour each. Tickets are between $15 and $30, and children under twelve are free. Parking is $10.
Derby fans will be watching to see how the Dolls fare at their new venue. Will the Doll-loyal follow their league out to Broomfield? Or will they deem the fifteen-minute trek too far?
The Rollergirls opted to stay in Denver this year. When the Dolls decided to move to Broomfield, they scooped up their old venue: the downtown Fillmore Auditorium. So far, it appears to have been a good move. The Rollergirls sold out their first two home bouts, on February 6 and March 6. They've also been kicking ass on the road. Their travel team, the 5280 Fight Club, won both of their road bouts so far against the Bellingham (Washington) Roller Betties and the Bay Area Derby Girls of San Francisco.
The Rollergirls' next home bout, against the Duke City Derby of Albuquerque, New Mexico, will takes place at 7 p.m. April 3. Ready, Denver? How about you, Broomfield?
