Original post, 8:44 a.m. December 6: It's taken several days, but the Denver Police Department has now confirmed that it's investigating a shooting that took place last Friday as a homicide.
Thus far, the DPD is releasing few details about the flying lead on Robins Drive. But here's what we know so far.
Just past noon on Friday, the DPD confirms that dispatch received a call about shots fired at 13144 Robins Drive. Cops rushed to the scene, but by the time they got there, the victim was gone, having been transported from the crime scene to Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound to his neck -- a wound that apparently killed him, since he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Aurora Police officers detained two males a few blocks from the hospital, and Denver cops quizzed several individuals at the house where the deal went down. Thus far, however, no one's been arrested, and there have been no suspects named. Neither has the victim been ID'd, nor has the coroner's office confirmed a cause of death.
