The info comes courtesy of Channel 7, which crunched the numbers. According to their findings, police investigated 973 crashes in that area in 2009.
And thus far in 2010, there have been already been 400 crashes or so, meaning there's a decent chance the accident rate this year will be even higher.
In Channel 7's piece, various officials mention potential improvements to this portion of I-25 that might decrease crashes. But with a quarter-million cars traveling this road each day, that's likely wishful thinking. So if you're a commuter, drive that portion of the highway as if your life depends on it.
