In Broncos-Avalanche Rainy GIF War, Everyone's a Winner

Today, training camp for the Denver Broncos is closed to the public because of flooding caused by yesterday's downpour in the lot where fans park.

But at least the drenching produced plenty of laughs, thanks to the social media squads for the Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche.

Given that it's the off-season for the National Hockey League, the Avs' helpers have plenty of time on their hands — and as noted by 7News, their inspired responses to Broncos tweets about the storm led to a flurry of back-and-forth pop-culture GIFs with a decidedly wet-and-wild theme.

The first Broncos tweet about the camp shutdown is straightforward.

But the Avs introduced humor to the mix via this GIF from Jaws.

Inspired, the Broncos responded with a GIF of their own — theirs from The Shawshank Redemption.


Not to be outdone, the Avs countered with an inspired reference to Hot Fuzz...

...to which the Broncos fired back with a classic cilp from the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.

The Avs next offered up a bucket-full of Kevin Costner's mega-disaster Waterworld:

At that point, the boss must have walked into the office, because the Broncos wound things down with this:
To that, the Avs acknowledged that the end was near with a little help from The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

Then came the footballers' sign-off, courtesy of Peyton Manning doing the duty for the Broncos....

...and Gabriel Landeskog acknowledging him on behalf of the Avs.
The results made both teams winners.
