Janice Nam R.I.P.: Accused Killer Said, "I Have a Gun and Know How to Use It"

Update: Yesterday, we told you about the manhunt for Glen Galloway, sought as a person of interest in the murder of a woman in Colorado Springs. See our previous coverage below.

The victim has now been identified as Janice Nam, 28 — and shortly after 10 p.m. last night, the Colorado Springs Police Department announced that Galloway had turned himself in.

Meanwhile, horrifying details of the relationship between Nam and Galloway have surfaced.

He was convicted of stalking her after she broke things off — and court records note that she feared for her life. At one point, Galloway allegedly shouted, "I have a gun and know how to use it."

Unfortunately, that appears to be the case. Nam was shot to death around five months after Galloway cut off his ankle monitor and disappeared.

These details come courtesy of KKTV, which reveals that Nam dated Galloway for two years before she told him to move out circa 2014. That's when he allegedly issued his shooting threat.

She subsequently filed what are described as "multiple protection orders against Galloway related to domesticviolence cases."

Specifically, Galloway was thought to have been behind break-ins at her home, some of which were captured on a surveillance camera.

One example: Police believe he stole her washer, dryer and refrigerator, but only after unloading the latter and leaving the food out to rot.

Another: Galloway is thought to have left all the faucets in the home open (along with the refrigerator doors), swiped the TV remote but not the set itself, and stole some of Nam's bras and underwear.

In addition, he's suspected of damaging the homes and cars of Nam's relatives after she moved out of her house in an effort to get away from him.

Finally, KKTV notes, Galloway was convicted in October 2015 of stalking, violating protection orders, trespassing, theft and criminal mischief — after which he was fitted with the aforementioned ankle monitor.

But a day before his sentencing, scheduled for January 8 of this year, he cut the monitor off and disappeared — and he didn't resurface until last night, when he surrendered to authorities.

Original post, 6:12 a.m. May 31: Authorities in Colorado Springs aren't saying that Glen Galloway committed a brutal murder in Colorado Springs.

At least not yet.

However, Galloway, who was wanted even before the homicide, has been branded a person of interest in the case.

And he's considered to be armed and dangerous.

The Galloway alert went out following an incident that took place on the 6000 block of Miramont Street in the Springs — an area captured in the following interactive graphic. If you have problems seeing the image, click "View on Google Maps."


At around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 30, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area on what's termed an "urgent assist."

Upon their arrival, they located "a deceased adult female."

The victim's name is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.

The coroner's office will determine the cause of death. However, the CSPD notes that she "was suffering from apparent traumatic injury."

Shortly after this grisly discovery, the CSPD issued a be-on-the-lookout notice for Galloway.

He's 44, stands six feet in height, weighs approximately 200 pounds, and is distinguished by gray hair and brown eyes.

The CSPD points out that Galloway "is currently wanted for three felony warrants" — and indeed, he was featured in January as part of a Colorado Springs Gazette "Mugshot Monday" roundup. At the time, he was "being sought on suspicion of violation of bail bonds conditions."
