Americans United for Life wants Colorado voters to know that U.S. Congressman John Salazar "voted for taxpayer-funded abortion in Nancy Pelosi's health-care bill."

But the Washington, D.C.-based pro-life group isn't doing a very good job of spreading its message, at least on the radio. In an ad that began airing in western Colorado this week -- part of a $600,000 nationwide campaign -- the group mixes John up with his brother, U.S. Interior Secretary and former Senator Ken Salazar.

In fact, the ad hammers Ken Salazar's name five times.

John Salazar, meanwhile, who is deadlocked with Republican opponent Scott Tipton, was elected to the 3rd District in 2004. He's the one with the mustache.

A spokesman for AUL has blamed its production company and quickly replaced the ad with one that actually mentioned the candidate the organization is trying to smear.

But that doesn't make the group any less shmucky.
