The victim in the shooting was identified as Kendrick Anthony Williams, 25, and three arrests have been made: Riley William Godfrey, 27, Marquesa Lanell Johnson, 21, and Darrius Dayvon Turner, 19. Get more details below:
On Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Aurora Police Officers responded to the Riviera Motel at 9100 East Colfax Avenue on report of a fight.Officers found one adult male, later identified as 25- year- old Kendrick Anthony Williams, suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside a motel room. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office ruled the death a Homicide.
Responding Patrol officers and a K-9 Unit located and detained two parties in the area who were later charged with Murder.
The investigation progressed quickly and by the end of the day, a third suspect was arrested based on the combined efforts of the Gang Unit, the Pattern Crimes Unit, the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team and Patrol. That suspect was also charged with Murder.
The three arrestees are identified as:
Godfrey, Riley William, male, 27 years old
Johnson, Marquesa Lanell, female, 21 years old
Turner, Darrius Dayvon, male, 19 years old
Investigators have determined that there was a dispute between the parties just prior to the shooting, but the details of the dispute are still unclear.
