Officers from the communities of Evans and LaSalle responded to the venue at 11:21 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man outside with a gun. An Evans PD release notes that officers contacted the man shortly thereafter and told him to drop the weapon.

In response, the man is said to have ignored their orders and raised the gun toward the officers "in a threatening manner." At that point, "officers were forced to shoot the male party."

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

A short time ago, journalists began tweeting from the scene, including 9News' Colleen Ferriera....

The Evans police note that the identity of the man in question is not being released at this time. A statement adds that the Greeley Police Department will be conducting an investigation into the shooting, with the Evans officer who fired the fatal shot being placed on administrative leave "as per normal procedure."
