The photo below, which flashes past website visitors along with shots of trains, buffalo herds and other bucolic stuff, has everything, including razor-sharp teeth, impending death and that mind-blowing feeling you got the first time you watched the slow-motion fight scenes in The Matrix. That's more than we can say for most county commissioners.
So where did the photo come from? The nice woman who answered the phone in the county administration office guessed that it came from a nearby alligator farm. She couldn't remember the name, but it's most likely Colorado Gators Reptile Park. Located in Alamosa County, its website also includes the photo below -- with no explanation. But we're determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of the deadly-alligator photo. (Captain Jack Sparrow may have to wait for another day.) After telling us about the alligator park, the nice woman on the phone transferred us to someone named Jill. She wasn't at her desk, but we left her a message inquiring about the World's Most Badass Photo Found on a County Website. It's probably the weirdest message she'll get all day. But we hope she calls back anyway. And when she does, we'll be sure to post an update.More from our Art archive: "Christo's 'Over the River' project approved by Fremont County Commission."
