Colorado continues to have a reputation in some quarters as a bad-weather state. But anyone who lives here knows that's a gross exaggeration whether or not the state's 300-days-of-sunshine claim is a myth or not.

More evidence comes via a new study by the folks at WalletHub to determine which cities have the best weather. Fifteen in Colorado finished in the top 75, and although several are clustered together, there's plenty of distance between most -- and we bet you can't guess the top finisher, which wound up in the national top ten out of 600 cities surveyed. Count down all fifteen below, complete with photos, national rankings and the methodology at the bottom of the post.

Methodology

In light of hurricane season, WalletHub ranked 600 of the largest cities in the United States to identify the ones with the best year-round weather. Using nine key metrics, we defined ideal weather models both for lovers of mild weather year-round and for those who appreciate individual seasons.

In order to do so, we initially calculated each city's monthly weather score by ranking the cities according to each metric and its corresponding weight. Afterwards we have identified the percentile for each city.

Given the fact that we evaluated 600 cities, some of which are geographically close to one another, we assigned each city a percentile rank. For instance, a value of 10 means that city belongs to the top 10 percent of cities in a particular category (e.g., winter category).

The following metrics as well as their corresponding weights were used for our overall rankings above.

Temperature & Humidity:

Difference between the Historical Average Monthly Temperature & Ideal Temperature for Each Season: 1.5 Chance of Humidity: 0.5 Precipitation & Snow:

Difference between the Historical Average Precipitation & Ideal Precipitation for Each Season: 1.5 Difference between the Historical Average Chance of Snow Day & Ideal Chance of Snow Day for Each Season: 0.5 Sky Conditions:

0.3* Chance of Partly Cloudy + 0.7* Chance of Sunny Day: 3 Poor Weather Conditions:

Difference between the Historical Average Chance of Fog Day & Ideal Chance of Fog Day for Each Season: 0.5 Chance of Windy Day: 1 Extreme Weather:

Chance of Hail Day: 0.5 Chance of Tornado Day: 1.5
