The man's day appears to have started mighty early. At 4:55 a.m. yesterday, according to the Aurora Police Department, officers received a call about a robbery outside a Walmart at 14000 East Exposition.
The victim told investigators that he was sleeping in his car when a man assaulted him, taking his keys in the process.The suspect was nowhere in sight near the Walmart, maybe because he was already en route to the 14300 block of East Kentucky Place -- an address that appears to be part of the Ridge Hill development.
In that incident, a homeowner told cops called around 6:35 a.m. that he'd awakened to discover several items in his residence were missing -- including his car keys, plus a minivan.The aforementioned vehicle was spotted around 8:15 a.m. in a third location: the 20400 block of East Saratoga Place in unincorporated Arapahoe County. So, too, was the man believed to have taken it, but when officers tried to round him up, a fight -- and a bite to one law enforcer's neck -- ensued.
After the chomp, an APD rep fired a taser at the man, but it failed to stop him. He fled on foot, leading to one of several foot chases. He was finally brought down around 8:55 a.m., and CBS4 reports that officers received an assist from a bystander who also happens to be a football coach. Hence his experience with tackling. The suspect was transported to a hospital after being taken into custody, and the bitten cop was admitted for medical treatment as well.Thus far, charges against the toothy one haven't been announced owing to his passage through multiple jurisdictions and the possibility that he committed more crimes between 6:35 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. The APD encourages anyone with additional info to phone Detective Krieger at 303-739-6112 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
