As we've reported, the Denver real estate market is so hot that many properties are being sold for more than the original list price.

Is the story different for high-end properties in the Aspen area?

It certainly seems to have been for acting couple Felicity Huffman, best know for her role in the now-concluded ABC series Desperate Housewives, and William H. Macy, a marvel as a hard-partying hellion in Showtime's Shameless.

Last year, Huffman, who reportedly grew up in the Aspen area, and Macy listed their home in Basalt for $4,25 million. But the Aspen Times reveals that it's now been sold for a mere $3.95 million.

We hope Huffman and Macy will be able to scrape by.

From the look of images in the original listing, the buyer has landed a real gem. While it's not huge by celebrity-home standards (5,000 square feet), the home sits on a glorious 35-acre parcel. The place is gorgeous inside and out.

Check out a sampling of images below, interspersed with details about the property, including a testimonial written by Macy. To see even more photos, and for additional information, click here.

Homeowners' Notes

We love this house and so do our two girls. We've had the best dinner parties and holiday feasts. Felicity and I love to hike up toward Sopris Mountain, right out the back door. We’ve spent hours on the back deck watching the fantastic color as the sun sets over the ranch. We put a secret door between the kids bedrooms which has been a huge hit. And of course my wood shop where I’ve made some lovely pieces of furniture.
