The women on Telemundo are so hot. From the spicy soap opera stars to the TV news anchors, the channel is flooded with momacitas. But beware my fellow male Spanish channel gawkers, for there is a man dressed up as a woman who has slipped in with the real Latinas.
Long before Jaider Sanchez’s commercial for his Divas Transvestite Show ever appeared on Telemundo, Sanchez, better known as la Columbiana, was featured in Westword. He instructs young Latinas how to step into womanhood by teaching them the steps to the traditional quniceanera ceremony. And he owns a beauty shop up on 51st and Federal, right next to Tequila night club, where you can catch him/her and the rest of the divas every Friday night for just $5.
“More than anything it’s fun, you get to see the Mexican artists too,” Sanchez said. “It’s fun for the people, they’ll all walk away with great memories.”
Business slows down a bit this time of year, but Sanchez is still teaching the dance lessons while running the Divas show, and he’s still looking for an American love. -- Luke Turf
