Woman Who Left Joe Thompson's Car During Fight Wound Up Underneath It

According to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Joe Thompson reacted a woman leaving his car in the midst of an argument in an extreme way.

By running over her.

Indeed, the woman is said to have wound up underneath the vehicle after the incident, in which Thompson, 32, faces a wide variety of charges — including child abuse, because a two-year-old was in the vehicle at the time.

The incident took place at approximately 6:52 a.m. on the 3400 block of West County Road 54G in the community of Laporte.

The LCSO, which was assisted by the Colorado State Patrol and the Poudre Fire Authority, say that Thompson and an unnamed woman got into an argument while driving in the area.

Somewhere along the line, the woman asked to get out of the car, and she did so.

But when she tried to walk away, the LCSO maintains, Thompson hit her with the car and kept going, until she was trapped beneath the vehicle.

Fortunately, the child accompanying the pair was unharmed in the incident — but the woman was transported to a local hospital with what are described as serious bodily injuries.

Thompson allegedly tried to rabbit when authorities arrived, but he didn't get far — and now he's being held on suspicion of first-degree assault, felony menacing, attempting to leave the scene of an accident with a serious bodily injury, child abuse, domestic violence and driving under restraint or a revoked license.
