Traffic sucks, and as Colorado grows, it just seems to get worse and worse. Some people leave earlier to deal with the jams, or move closer to their offices. Others pick up their bicycles or take the bus. Still others speed, run red lights, curse their fellow drivers or silently stew, bringing on early heart trouble.
Justin Davis has been accused by police of dealing with traffic in whole new, and very illegal way. On Tuesday, Boulder County Sheriff's deputies arrested Davis and accused him of mounting flashing red and blue lights on top of his Nissan truck so that he could get past slower cars and through intersections. State laws only allow emergency vehicles, like police cars, ambulances and fire trucks, to use flashing lights.
Police say the 21-year-old Aurora man flashed the lights at an intersection near Lafayette, then abandoned his truck at a gas station when a suspicious motorist followed him, according to a story in the Boulder Daily Camera. Davis then called police to report the truck stolen, the story said. A sound plan, indeed.
Davis was charged with various offenses, including false reporting, traffic violations and impersonating a police officer, which is a felony. And there's no traffic in jail.
