Suffice it to say that I eat out more than the general population, unless, of course, the general population can catalogue more than 450 restaurant meals in a year -- which is about the number of breakfasts, lunches and dinners that I stomached in 2012. Pathetic, isn't it? But all those food dates are worth the gluttony, because it allows us to tell you where you should eat, a little favor that we started in late 2009, when we embarked on a culinary journey that took us through our favorite dishes in the Mile High City -- 100, to be exact. Now we're back with round three, counting down (in no particular order) 100 more of our favorite dishes in Denver (and Boulder). No. 95: Breakfast burrito from Jalapeños
Denverites take their breakfast burritos as seriously as they do their bicycle laps around Washington Park, and given the hundreds of burrito trucks, burrito carts and burrito shacks sprinkled throughout the city, it's not easy to choose just one as that marvelous eye-opener. Then again, maybe it is.

Morning, noon and night, Jalapeños delivers a stellar breakfast burrito -- pudgy, cheap and made exactly the way I want it. Soft-scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, fried cubes of potatoes -- enough to alert you to the fact that they're there, but not so many that they overtake everything else -- and a fevered, fierce and fiery green chile studded with habanero chiles is generously draped over (or tucked into) -- a griddled flour tortilla that sells for a mere $1.99. Bacon, ham, spicy chorizo and even Soyrizo -- the vegetarian equivalent of swine -- can be added for a small price, and it's available Jalapeños style, too, with grilled onions, tomatoes and specks of fresh jalapeños. No matter which one you order, it's a wrap.
