Ace Eat Serve to Host Second Annual Wings & Whiskey — And You Could Win Two Tickets

The second annual Wings & Whiskey throwdown will take flight at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, at Ace Eat Serve, to benefit the Denver Housing Authority's Youth Culinary Academy, which provides mentoring, education, employment and training for students between the ages of 16 and 21 who are interested in a career in food service. Last year's event was such a success that Secret Sauce F & B (the restaurant group that includes Ace, Steuben's and Vesta Dipping Grill) has decided to get the gang together for another round of saucy fun for a good cause. 

This year's chefs include Jamey Fader, representing the Big Red F restaurant group (Jax Fish Houses, Lola and the Post Brewing Company, among others); Matt Selby of Central Bistro; Elijah Odell of Highland Tap & Burger; Mimi Banish of Osage Cafe (the non-profit restaurant that serves as a training ground for students in the Youth Culinary Academy); Mark Dym of Marco's Coal-Fired Pizza; Ryan Higgins of Lou's Food Bar; Amos Watts and Steve Redzekowski of Acorn and Oak at Fourteenth; and Secret Sauce's Brandon Foster (Vesta), Cliff Blauvelt (Steuben’s) and Chris Medved (Ace). Last year's winning wings came from the Osage Cafe and Ace, and since then the chefs have been honing their recipes, so competition will be fierce — and tasty. 

VIP passes to the event are already sold out, but you can still purchase general admission tickets for $45 each, which will get you wings from eight chefs (or teams of chefs), unlimited beer from Great Divide, sake and whiskey from several top producers (three drinks per person), live music, a wing-eating contest, more food from Ace and a whole flock of other festivities. Space for the wing-eating contest is limited, so arrive on time if you want to sign up. The prize for most wings eaten this year will be a cruiser bike courtesy of Evergreen Bicycle Outfitters.
