And the Daily Meal agrees: The national website just released its list of the 25 Best Dive Bars in America for 2015, based on such important criteria as "questionable characters," cheap drinks and a jukebox, and the Ace Hi makes the cut at #14. Here's the Daily Meal description:
Any bar that offers happy hour twice a day will attract quite the crowd, and Ace Hi Tavern is no exception. Happy hour runs 7 a.m. through 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, allowing locals to enjoy a cheap cold one at their best convenience. Situated on the historic Washington Avenue in Golden, this bar is rich in history and filled with character.We'll drink to that! But while we're honored that Colorado has two bars in the top 25, we have to quibble with the Daily Meal's second inclusion from this state: Clocking in at #20 is the Sink, whose renovation definitely lifted the place out of true divedom. It's a fine place to grab a beer and a burger, but a dive? No.
