It must be difficult to leave a great job that you've had for seven years for a new job that lasts all of two days. But some things just don't work out, like former Avenue Grill bartender Randy Layman's move to Jonesy's EatBar, which ended after one weekend.

You might expect Layman to be a little bitter, but read his Behind the Bar interview and you'll see that he rolls with the punches. And he was very calm about his departure from Jonesy's, too, echoing owner Leigh Jones's statement that, as much as he would have liked for it to work out, it just wasn't a good fit for either of them.

And just days after his departure from Jonesy's, Layman was in talks with Vesta Dipping Grill and Steuben's owner Josh Wolkon, a restaurateur whose bars Layman really respects and loves. Coincidence? Randy's brother, Ryan, was already tending bar at Steuben's. And now? Randy has landed a bartending gig at Vesta Dipping Grill, where we hope he'll stay for another seven years.
