Monday, September 29

Metropolitan State University of Denver is hosting Ales, Lagers and Beyond from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today. Guests will taste the major styles of beer and learn how to analyze flavor and serve in glassware that maximizes the enjoyment of beer.‌‌ The event will also include beer and food tastings. Tickets are $35 and you can get yours here.

Tommy Oldre joins Frasca Food and Wine to pour a flight of wines from the Vineyard Brands portfolio for tonight's edition of the restaurant's Monday Night Wine Dinner Series. Tuesday, September 30

Cook Street Cooking School is offering Cooking with Herbs and Spices today from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The class will teach when to use fresh or dry spices, how to toast and grind spices, how to use spices in meat rubs and marinades, and then share the best tips for buying and storing. Tuition is $89, register at cookstreet.com.

Tonight at 7 p.m., Guard and Grace will team up with Great Divide for a five-course beer dinner. The dinner is $80; for reservations, call the restaurant at 303-293-8500.

Wednesday, October 1

Lola will mark the harvest at La Cosecha, a dinner celebrating Colorado chefs and farmers. Featured chefs include Justin Brunson and Nadine Donovan from Old Major, Theo Adley from Squeaky Bean, Brandon Foster from Vesta Dipping Grill, Steve Redzikowski and Amos Watts from Acorn and Oak at Fourteenth, Joel Pierce from Stoic & Genuine, Jon Mendoza from Bad Apples and Kevin Grossi and Xan Lynch from Lola. There will be live music through the evening, and some of town's best bartenders will create a special cocktail menu to highlight ingredients from the featured farms -- and pour tequila. Offensively Delicious, presented by Renegade Brewing and Sexpot Comedy, will kick off the Great American Beer Festival with a laugh. The Oriental Theater will welcome a lineup of comedians including Andy Juett, Jordan Doll and Adam Cayton-Holland, along with national comic Nikki Glaser. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door, which opens at 6 p.m., and includes unlimited samples from more than ten breweries. For tickets and head on over to theorientaltheater.com.

Thursday, October 2

Break out the pretzels: The Great American Beer Festival kicks off today. The annual event will bring hundreds of breweries to the Colorado Convention Center. Tickets were sold out long ago, but there are related (and unrelated) beery events around town. For more information and a schedule of events, visit greatamericanbeerfestival.com.

Old Major is hosting a brunch featuring beer from Magnolia Brewing Company and the music of the Grateful Dead. The three-course meal will include beer pairings with each course and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $55; you can choose from five seatings and make your reservations here.

Friday, October 3

City, O' City will be holding a three-course beer brunch with beers from Pipeworks Brewery of Chicago from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $45; call City O' City at 303-831-6443 for reservations and more information.

The Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI will give participants the opportunity to taste rare beers from fifty breweries. The tasting will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the McNichols Building. Tickets are $110, get yours here.
