After visiting a number of markets, including New York's Eataly, though, owner Michael Burgermeister decided to relocate and expand so that he could offer more artisanal foods in addition to housewares.
The new space, which is located at 1222 A Pearl Street, in the old Art Mart spot, "will be primarily a Parisian store rather than Italian," says Mischa Delaney, manager of Bayleaf. "But Michael was inspired by markets all over the world, including Eataly in New York."
Delaney notes that the future digs also have room for more displays, which will feature local products, including baked goods, Udi's breads and Colorado-made jellies and jams. The shop will also increase its stock of packaged foods, importing more items for shoppers to take home and cook.
"It's a good time for us to expand," says Delaney. "We're excited to see how it all comes together."
The current shop will shutter on November 17; the new Bayleaf is slated to open on Friday, November 26.
