Yak and Yeti Restaurant & Brewery will present the Discovery Channel special How Beer Saved the World tonight at 8 p.m. The trailer for it (above) is hilarious. There will be free appetizers as well as a chance to try all of the Yak's beers.
Deschutes Brewing will visit Dry Dock Brewing in Aurora and the Brew Hut home-brewing store next door today from 4 to 7 p.m. to salute home brewers. Hats off to Homebrewers will give people a chance to meet brewers from both breweries and take home some Cascade hops. Oh, and Deschutes will also be pouring samples of its rare Dissident sour beer, along with a few Dry Dock specialties. Yum. For more Denver/Boulder Deschutes events, see the brewery's web site.

The Baker Street Pub & Grill will help you fall Into "The Abyss: Four Year Vertical Tasting" tonight from 8 to 11 p.m. by offering samples of The Abyss, the highly-rated, highly sought-after imperial stout. Deschutes will have samples of '08, '09, '10 and '11.
Dry Dock Brewing will tap a firkin of Coffee American Stout today at 3 p.m. and another around 7 or 8 p.m. as part of its weekly Firkin Friday fiesta.

The entire year in beer will flash before your, uh, palate today when Wynkoop Brewing Company hosts its third annual Beers of the Year event from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The event -- which helps celebrate the brewpub's 23rd birthday -- gives attendees the chance to sample "every version of liquid art that we made in 2011," including one-off specialties like Belgorado, the Coupler, Hickenlooper's Inaugurale, Skull & Crossbones Black IPA, and Metacool Maltuwanna. The Wynkoop will also break out some vintage barley wines, tap a couple of firkins and offer sips of The Chancellor, a single malt, single hop, barrel-aged strong ale that's been aging in whiskey barrels since January. Tickets are $25 in advance at www.wynkoop.com and $30 at the door.
Dry Dock Brewing celebrates is sixth anniversary by tapping Braggot, a beer aged in rum barrels, and Naked Porter, aged in whiskey barrels. The tap room opens at noon.
British-pub-turned-craft-beer-watering-hole The Royal Hilltop will celebrate its ninth anniversary today by tapping what may be the first keg of Russian River's Pliny the Elder ever to go on draft in Aurora. The beer flows at noon, and AM 760's Colorado Craft Beer Radio will be broadcasting live as well.
Oregon's Deschutes Brewing will be at Old Chicago in Boulder, 1102 Pearl Street, today from 1 to 4 p.m. for some Firkins & Football as the CU Buffs take on the Oregon Ducks. There will be tailgating in the parking lot, pint specials and the tapping of the first-ever firkin keg of Inversion IPA in the state of Colorado.
Author and journalist Ed Sealover will sign copies of his new book, Mountain Brew: A Guide to Colorado's Breweries, today from 1 to 4 p.m. at Odell Brewing Company in Fort Collins. Pick up a copy and stay for a pint.

Beer is for breakfast, or least for brunch. Head over to Renegade Brewing today from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a $15 beer brunch that includes a beer cocktail, as well as a breakfast burrito paired with a red beer made with Renegade's Una Mas, a chicken-and-waffle sandwich paired with Sunday Morning Strong Ale, and French toast paired with a shandy made with 5 O'Clock Blond Ale. All of the food -- in small portions -- is provided by the Chef Driven food truck. Tickets are on sale at the brewery.

Golden City Brewery, at 12th and Cheyenne Street, in Golden brews its Hatch Chile Beer every year during chile season. This year, the cult beer beer was so popular that the brewery whipped up a second batch, which will go on tap tonight. It's a good chance to warm up before the cold weather comes down.
City, O' City will tap a firkin of Orange Blossom Cezanne Saison from Greeley's Crabtree Brewing today at 7 p.m. The recently re-opened veggie haven will also have tunes from DJ Babyshoe.

Odell Brewing's gold-medal-winning Friek, was re-released on Monday in 750 ml bottles, and the brewery will celebrate with a Friek Out party today in its Fort Collins tap room. Guests are encouraged to don their Friekiest Halloween outfits and enjoy samples of the beer, as well as local food and live music. The beer, a cross between a Framboise and a sour Kriek, won in the Wood and Barrel Aged Sour Beers category. Aged in oak barrels with cherries grown on the Western Slope, it is then blended with raspberries.
The Cheeky Monk's Westminster location is pouring Dogfish Head's Hellhound On My Ale tonight beginning at 7 p.m.; pay $10 bucks for your pint and you can keep the glass. The beer was made to mark the 100th birthday of Mississippi Delta bluesman Robert Johnson; it's a super-hoppy beer weighing in at 10 percent ABV and 100 IBUs.
The Rackhouse Pub opened two years ago this weekend, ushering in a cultural renaissance when it comes to beer bars in Denver. Celebrate that change -- and the beginning of the Halloween weekend -- beginning at 5 p.m. tonight when the Rackhouse celebrates its second anniversary with a tap takeover by Avery Brewing (all twenty handles will be pouring Avery beers). There will also be a costume contest with beer and whiskey as the prize. Music will be provided by the Colorado Goat Ropers.
