Come Rain or Come Shine runs from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight at the J.A. Balistreri Vineyards in north Denver. The culinary portion of the evening will be headed by Jensen Cummings of the Slotted Spoon, who's enlisted the support of other Colorado chefs including Tyler Wiard of Elway's, Benny Kaplan from Wafflich, Chris Cina from Breckenridge-Wynkoop, DJ Nagle from Humboldt Farm-Fish-Wine, Kurt Boucher from Rendezvous Cafe at History Colorado, Sean Boutot from Appaloosa Grill and Daniel Asher from Root Down/Linger.
The wine will be provided by Balistreri Vineyards, and the brews provided by Breckenridge Brewery, Renegade Brewery and Oskar Blues. The benefit is hosted by Slow Food Denver, along with Waste Farmers, the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and Grow Local Colorado.
The folks at the award-winning Waste Farmers has put together the entertainment lineup for the evening, and many of the musical acts are tied to the food movement. Eric Belsey of South Metro Urban Farmers plays with The Unquiet Grave, and that group will start off the evening. The lineup continues with Last Minute Bluegrass Band, a group that has come together for this event and includes John Paul Maxfield from Waste Farmers and Spencer Lomax of Snooze. Zen Mustache, a seven-piece band from Denver, will headline the show -- and includes Kyle Manson from Circle Fresh Farms.
A short program by the Local Food Shift Group with explain the Front Range Farm Relief Fund and share stories from some local farmers who were impacted by the floods.
Tickets range from $15 to $500, and all proceeds support the Front Range Farm Rrelieve Fund, supported by Local Food Shift, the Boulder Community Foundation and the Boulder County Farmers Markets. You can purchase tickets online, and choose how much you would like to donate.
