That was the word from Steve Whited, owner of Black Pearl, who stopped me on my way to Den Deli last night for some sushi and a bowl of ramen. Whited was just as excited as I was that the Japanese seafood market, noodle house, sushi stop and bento box emporium at 1501 South Pearl Street, is applying for a liquor license. The hearing is scheduled for September 15 at the Wellington Webb building.
But Den Deli isn't the only joint on South Pearl's restaurant row that's looking to liquor up your liver. The Crushery, located up the street from Den Deli at 1579 South Pearl Street, is also applying for a liquor license; the date for that hearing is set for August 27.
And speaking of libations, Kaos, the pizzeria at 1439 Pearl Street, starting pouring wine, beer and sangria back on July 2 in its new, expanded, sit-down space.
