"We'll roll up there around 9 p.m. and hang out in the 'hood until 1 a.m. or so," says Moore, who got the news yesterday from various inspectors that his candy corn-orange truck, wrapped in stickered sheets graphicked with logos and slogans and haloed with a neon, vintage, double-sided "Eat" sign, was ready to wheel.
"It's still evolving, and we definitely have some loose ends to tie up, but the truck and the kitchen are ready to go," promises Moore, whose global street-food menu will hustle tacos al pastor and ceviche served in paper cones, bánh mì sliders, a shrimp wrap, fried macaroni and cheese, and several varieties of fries, including salted, truffled and white cheddar fondued.
Moore plans to motor the truck along South Broadway tonight and tomorrow night. The Rocket will take Sunday and Monday off and then make its first appearance at Civic Center Eats at Civic Center Park at lunchtime on Tuesday, July 13. "We're still working out the schedule," says Moore, "but we'll definitely be out there greasing our wheels tonight and tomorrow night and again on Tuesday afternoon."
