Jane West founded Edible Events as a way to bring together people in a comfortable environment to talk, eat and smoke marijuana (in a private party bus). She hosted her first party in honor of the end of prohibition of marijuana at Space Gallery last month."The event was more than I could have imagined," West says, "and I was aiming really high -- no pun intended. We had the chance to attend the event as well, and it was filled with different generations of people, mingling, laughing and partying it up with headliners in the Denver pot industry, and even CNN.
At Space, guests could move about, checking out the slider and quesadilla tables -- and for those who wanted something other than (or in addition to) cannabis, there was an open bar, stocked with local wine and beer. "I'm not doing this to make a bunch of money," West says. "But it is worth the fun and to make such an exclusive night out for friends -- it's the beginning for a new demographic of smokers."In addition to this week's Valentine's Day party, West is developing more events that will coincide with First Fridays in the Old South Gaylord Street area. These will have the same concept as her BYOC (bring your own cannabis) parties, except there will be various cheese purveyors, as well as desserts from restaurants in the area.
