Fat Jack's Subs got its start fourteen years ago, when the first location opened in Capitol Hill. Founded by the Ward brothers, the chain was bought by longtime customers Kyle and Brooke Fabra some years ago. "We appreciated what the culture and brand were about, and we loved the subs, so when the opportunity arose to buy the company, it was a dream come true. Fat Jack's has and always will be the best sandwich shop in Denver," says Kyle Fabra.
The new store, located at 2015 West 32nd Avenue, will mainly be carry-out/delivery, but there will be some indoor and outdoor seating options, too. As at their other stores, the Fabras plan to feature local art and music at the new location. "Each store naturally develops its own unique feel because employees come up with their own ideas, like plastering walls with old encyclopedia pages, decking tem out in ninja turtles, and having vintage albums on the walls. We know the LoHi store will evolve into its own 'personality,' too, and we are excited to see what that is," says Megan Adams, director of marketing and sales for Fat Jack's.
"Opening a location in LoHi has been a goal of mine for some time," adds Kyle Fabra. "The neighborhood is filled with amazing people and personalities that really understand what we are all about. This is the ideal location that will allow us to quickly serve all of the Highlands with carry-out and delivery."But don't wait for that tore to open if you want to try the Srirancha. The hot chicken sandwich, featuring bacon, Swiss, a sriracha/ranch sauce and pickles, was created by Stapleton store manager Jon Evans through a company contest. "There were so many good ones, but we all couldn't stop eating the Srirancha," explains Adams.
The four current Fat Jack's locations are in Capitol Hill, University of Denver, on Leetsdale and in Stapleton; all of them are open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The LoHi store will keep the same hours -- and since it's on the same block as Mary Jane's Pizza, this will definitely be a good spot for late-night grub.
