It's nearly taco time for the Denver Tech Center: Troy Guard is expanding his restaurant empire with a new outpost of Los Chingones at the Belleview Station development on Denver's southern border. The first Los Chingones opened two years ago at 2461 Larimer Street, helping to revive an area that's now one of the city's top dining destinations. Guard's new "badass" eatery is scheduled to open on November 9 and will feature the same roster of vibrant tacos, punchy tequila cocktails and other Mexican fare — but will also include a raw bar with oysters, shrimp and several takes on Mexican-style ceviche.

The restaurant's goal, according to Guard, is to "'redesign' Mexican food by utilizing out-of-the-norm proteins and a fusion of flavors." The flagship taqueria is known for its Wild Card taco special, which has ranged from camel to antelope; the regular roster includes lamb neck and octopus.

The southern sibling encompasses 3,500 square feet of the same concrete-and-steel decor with loud colors and street-art accents that has made the Ballpark original a go-to spot for Larimer Street revelers. Inside, there's room for 120 guests, with an additional 48 seats available on the outdoor patio.

The new Los Chingones will be open Monday to Saturday from 4:30 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Beginning December 1, the kitchen will also serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Happy hour will kick off weekdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m., with a 3 p.m. start time planned for the future.
