The Classic gets underway on Thursday, June 13 with an invite-only party that struts foodstuffs from several celebrity chefs, including Richard Blais, Stephanie Izard, Kristen Kish and Bart Vandaele and then, on Friday, the festival kicks into high gear with a slew of wine-and-food demonstrations, book signings, grand tastings and parties galore.
If you missed out on purchasing a full-festival pass, tickets are still available to a handful of events, including Saturday's 25th anniversary Best New Chefs party, which takes place on the crest of Aspen Mountain and spotlights Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs of 2013, along with their inspirational mentors -- and former Best New Chef alumni. "The 25th anniversary FOOD & WINE Best New Chefs party will be a once-in-a-lifetime combo of chefs, and as the second major celebration of the milestone, Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, David Chang and John Besh will come together to toast the anniversary," says Lori Lefevre, media spokesman for the Classic. Chang, she reveals, is cooking roasted lamb ssäm with accompaniments. Expect a captive audience.
In addition, you can still snag tickets to the Last Bite Dessert Party, a sweet spread of sugar highs hosted by Top Chef judge Gail Simmons and chef Johnny Iuzzini; the Celebrity Chef 5K Charity Run; and a series of Reserve Wine Tastings that uncorks rare wines and highlights winemakers and sommeliers from around the globe.
