The St. Patrick's Day celebrations started this past weekend and will continue through the week (watch for an update today). But there's much more on the culinary calendar than cabbage and green beer. Keep reading for a taste of this week's other events.  

Monday, March 16

Frasca Food and Wine's Monday Night Wine Dinner will be all about Champagne. Billecart-Salmon US sales director Geoffrey Loisel joins Frasca to pour an all-sparkling flight from one of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, Billecart. Dinner is $50 for four courses, not including optional wine pairings. For reservations or more information, call Frasca at 303-442-6966.

Tuesday, March 17

Lower48 Kitchen's Tuesday Tastings have been such a hit that our Best New Restaurant in the 2014 Best of Denver is introducing a $34, prix-fixe meal that starts every Tuesday and runs for a week (in addition to the regular menu). These special menus will be a culinary tour of cooking around the United States, and will kick off with Massachusetts on March 17.  "With preparations of corned beef & cabbage and an American take on Irish Soda Bread, this menu is sure to satisfy St. Patrick himself," the restaurant advises. Wednesday, March 18

The Whole Foods Market in Cherry Creek is holding a Nutritional Benefits of Cheese class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, when Devin and Kim will highlight some of their favorite cheeses. Admission is free but space is very limited; RSVP by calling 720-941-4100. For more information, click here.  

Boulder County Farmers Markets will host a CSA Happy Hour at Left Hand Brewing's Tasting Room today from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring ten local farms that offer community-supported agriculture programs. Guests will meet farmers and farmers' market staff, discover this year's CSA membership options and learn about what farms are doing now to prepare for the upcoming season. The first fifty guests will receive a half-dozen fresh eggs from Jodar Farms in Fort Collins — free. For more information head over to boulderfarmers.org. 

Work Options for Women is holding a cooking class with Matt Selby, executive chef of Central Bistro and Bar, from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cafe Options. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at workoptions.org.

Lower48 Kitchen will once again partner with Kim & Jake Rosenbarger of Kim & Jake’s Cakes for a special gluten-free evening complete with food, drinks and baked sweets. The menu format at Lower48 will remain the same – offering "Each," "Small" and "Large" plates – but every dish will be gluten-free. Cocktails, wine and even gluten-free beer will also be available. Additionally, Kim & Jake's Cakes will have a market set up where it will sell an assortment of gluten-free baked goods, including breads and cookies. Whole Foods in Cherry Creek is holding an Ingredient Education Workshop today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Join Jasmine Birlew, molecular biologist turned cook, and learn the science behind ingredients and the art of eating healthy. RSVP by calling 720-941-4100. Every attendee with get a $5 gift card at the end of class. 

Stout Street Social is extending St. Paddy's Day a few extra days with a Guinness Brewery event from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight. Stout Street will be sampling, pairing and giving away Guinness swag.

As part of the Voices Women+Film Festival, Sie FilmCenter will be screening Soul of a Banquet today at 8 p.m. Directed by Wayne Wang, Soul of a Banquet takes viwers into the world of Cecilia Chiang, the woman who introduced America to authentic Chinese food. In 1961 Chiang opened The Mandarin in San Francisco, and she went on to change the course of cuisine in America. Tickets are $12 or $10 for Denver Film Society members. Get your tickets here.  

Guided by Stir Cooking School’s professional chefs, participants will learn how to replicate all of their favorite Chinese dishes during Chinese Take Out at Home, a class at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The menu consists of crab rangoons, beef and broccoli lo mein; sweet and sour pork; General Tso chicken and vegetable fried rice. Tuition for the class is $75 per person, register here.

Friday, March 20

The Boulder County Aids Project will be holding a spring open house from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the BCAP House. Wine and appetizers will be served and there will be tours, a scavenger hunt and a ceremony dedicating the Boulder Food Pantry to Jack Hodges, a supporter of BCAP’s food pantry program and a long-time member of the Interfaith AIDS Coalition.
