The 5,500-square-foot space, constructed from reclaimed beetle-kill pine, and tricked out with canoes, fish mounts, all indigenous to Colorado, fly fishing rods, a stone fireplace, retail store and tabletops splashed with Harvey's fish artistry, opens Wednesday night at 8336 Northfield Boulevard, and according to Terry Dearden, the joint's VP of operations, it's going to hook the masses. "This is a very authentic and unique restaurant -- we didn't spare much expense -- with a warm, lodge-like setting, and we're reaching all demographics by offering something for everyone."
At the very least, it's bound to appease sports fanatics, given that it's outfitted with 33 high-def TVs, including one in each bathroom, just so you don't miss any of the action while you're, uh, on the squatter.
And the menu, says Dearden, "justifies the upscale sports theme." I'm not sure what's "upscale" about buffalo wings, nachos, chicken tenders, or spinach and artichoke dip, all of which grace the menu, but at least it has a local bent, offering Red Bird Farms chicken and several varieties of fish -- walleye, steelhead trout and rainbow trout -- plucked from Colorado waters. And the beer roster includes several brews from Colorado, too.
The restaurant will also offer happy hour, Monday through Friday, from 3 to 7 p.m.; karaoke; trivia night; ladies' night (don't tell that to anti-ladies' night crusader Steve Horner); and game day specials.
Added bonus: If your kid has had enough of eating off real plates, they'll get a reprieve here, because their grub is served on Frisbees. That are yours to take home. Fetch the dog!
