The Hours: Monday through Saturday from 3 until 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. until close.
The Deal: Half price well drinks, beer, and wines by the glass; small plates range from $4-7 and artisan flatbreads are priced from $5.50 to $6.50.
The Digs: Encore occupies the east side of the old Lowenstein theater in the not-so-new Tattered Cover space. The long, sleek dining room boasts marked improvements over its original conception, and the cozy, but uncrowded bar, overseen by a staff that's welcoming, yet noninvasive, buzzes with lively conversation. Bonus: The stools are highly comfortable. The Verdict: Frankly, we can't think of anything better than a trip to a bookstore that ends with a glass of wine and a delicious slice of flatbread shared with a friend -- or several glasses of wine and a tasting of every flatbread on the menu. The prosciutto, arugula, and Gorgonzola flatbread with fig jam is a time-tested favorite - one that would cause a revolt if the chef ever yanked from the menu. For something different, try the falafel sliders ($7) with a glass of beer. The caramelized onion, ricotta, and sausage flatbread - a meat lover's pizza with a hint of class -- absolutely does not disappoint. Pair this with the Gloria Ferrer Brut ($5). You can thank us later.
