After eighteen months, Lime finally returned to downtown when Lime an American Cantinaopened on Thanksgiving in the Denver Pavilions. The original Lime was in Larimer Square, but after eleven years there, owners Curt and Pam Savage Sims closed that subterranean restaurant in the summer of 2012 and started looking for a new space downtown. Looking up: The new Lime is on the top floor of the Denver Pavilions, in a spot that hadn't been occupied before (although Curt has had clubs in shopping center), which help explains why the build-out took so long.

But the couple -- longtime fixtures on the entertainment scene, both in front of audiences (Pam is a singer as well as a cook) and behind (Curt has been opening clubs in this town for more than three decades) -- had plenty of other projects to keep them busy. Although they closed another Lime in the Landmark project in Greenwood Village, Lime XS is going strong on Sixth Avenue, and there's also an offshoot in Winter Park.

They also opened Cantina at 1109 Lincoln Street, in a building they've owned since the Denver Buffalo Company days, but closed that last month (the folks who have Stoney's next door are going to open Krewe Crescent City BBQ there this month). That gave them time to make the final push to open Lime in the Denver Pavilions, which opened with the same killer margs but a new, and sophisticated, look.
