It's National Margarita Day, and although that's not an official holiday, several local restaurants are getting into the celebration with specials today.

Among the party places:

Paxia Authentic Mexican Cuisine, 4001 Tejon Street, Denver.

Just minutes from downtown Denver, Paxia is offering its traditional house margarita -- tequila, lime juice and Cointreau -- for $5 all day. Paxia also serves specialty margaritas, including the spicy Cilantro Jalapeño and Jalapeño Mango, and sweeter options like the Rosangel Cocktail, a blend of fresh Hibiscus flowers, fruit purees and the traditional tequila and lime.

Rosa Linda's Mexican Cafe, 2005 W. 33rd Avenue, Denver.

Eight blocks from Paxia (that's stumbling distance!) Rosa Linda's is combining the old (Lent) with the new (National Margarita Day), serving $2.70 house margaritas and 27 percent off nachos from 3 to 7 p.m. (Rosa Linda's turns 27 this year.) And if you celebrated Fat Tuesday last night, you can atone for your sins by ordering off Rosa Linda's Lenten menu.

La Sandia Cantina, 8340 Northfield Boulevard, Denver and 8419 Park Meadows Drive in Littleton.

La Sandia is marking National Margarita Day by offering a complimentary Sandia margarita if you "check in" on Facebook with your smart phone and show the bartender. The Sandia marg is a blend of Cabo Wabo blanco tequila, fresh watermelon and sour mix -- not exactly a traditional margarita, but it's still free. And if you don't have a smart phone, you can at least partake in La Sandia's all-day happy hour, featuring $4 margaritas.

Pica's Mexican Taqueria, 5360 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder.

Pica's is tipping its sombrero in celebration of National Margarita Day, serving $3 house margaritas all day long. There's also an $8 lunch special: Chicken Tinga tacos and a soda.
