I'm a big fan of quality. But dammit, I like quantity, too.
So the name Fat Jack's sounded more and more attractive today as I ravenously watched the lunch hour slip by, fifteen minutes at a time. And when I finally escaped the office and made it to Colfax, I wasn't disappointed.
Located next to the new Video One location, Fat Jack's has more than twenty subs to choose from, all featuring a traditional, freshly baked sub roll that can hold everything inside, even double meat.
Double meat? That's what comes on the Classic Clubs, including The Fax, which is what I went for. The thick layers of turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese were proportioned perfectly, and the red onions were tasty without being overpowering. Interestingly, even the mayonnaise -- an oft-overlooked item -- was really good.
Fat Jack's isn't fancy. It just does the basics, but it does them very well.
