Since then, though, Pizzeria Locale has packed in fervent fans for pies fired in that wood-burning oven until they're crispy around the edges, soft in the center and topped with stellar ingredients imported from across the Atlantic and supplemented by produce from nearby local farms. We count ourselves among the place's followers: The mais pizza -- made with sweet corn, prosciutto crudo and creme fraiche -- made our list of the best pizzas in Denver and Boulder.
But now Pizzeria Locale has given us more reason to love it. The joint just s rolled out an Aperitivo hour, offering up cheap bites and drinks best consumed at the bar, counter or, when the weather's warm, near the open garage-doored window.
Among the deals? Three polpettine, the spot's killer meatballs, for $2; one biscotto for just 50 cents; an $8 Margherita pizza; $4 red or white wine; $4 Aperol spritzes -- and $2 Peronis.
The complete list:
Next week, in celebration of Locale's anniversary, the Aperitivo hour menu will be available from 4:30 until close. After that, it runs from 4:30 until 5:30.
Salute.
