And what is an outdoor sports bar? The main qualifier appears to be a massive patio that seats about a hundred people. That patio is currently wired for sound so that sports fans can hear the game outside, but it will eventually have a TV as well -- one that complements the other fifteen big-screen consoles on the inside, says Brian Gough, who owns Prickly Pete's with business partners Alan Dean and Pete Lungo.
The three guys also own Goal Line Sports Grill, at 16728 East Smokey Hill Road in Aurora, and Bears Sports Grill in Greeley, which opened seven years ago.
"We are sports fans," Gough says. "We are all from different parts of the country, but we are all sports fans."
Gough likes the Seattle Seahawks, so he typically watches the games in a corner of one of his other bars while Broncos fans take over, he laughs.
Prickly Pete's has a full menu that includes regular and buffalo burgers, prime rib and a Denver cheesesteak. It offers happy-hour specials seven days a week with $2 pints of Miller Lite and 35-cent wings; it also has twelve beers on tap.
Prickly Pete's will hold a grand opening in about a month.
