More than a year after Humble Pie closed its tiny Baker neighborhood shop, it's now back in business with a new retail outlet: The Humble Pie Shop at 3550 East Colfax Avenue. The sleek space in an old auto garage is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and people are raving about the combination of sweet and savory pies and other pastry-wrapped goods, which you can buy to-go or enjoy in the dining area overlooking Colfax at Monroe Street. One reader doesn't think that view is so sweet, though. Says Jocelyn:
Sorry, East Colfax is far from up and coming.
But Colfax defenders are quick to respond. Says Azhley:
When's the last time you were over there? It's across the street from Sprouts...can't get more gentrified than that....I've lived in the neighborhood for four years and think 16th St. is more dangerous!! In all reality I feel more uncomfortable in the suburbs! Crying babies and road-raged moms everywhere!
Adds Carole:
Personally, I love Colfax. It's part of the heart and soul of this city. Every city should be lucky enough to have a Colfax Avenue. It's all-American; gritty, dirty, has everything, true slice of life part of the city.
Have you been to the new Humble Pie? What are you waiting for: It's open this morning, serving coffee as well as more potent pick-me-ups.
