The initial list of semi-finalists for the James Beard Awards touted many people and places in Colorado, including Jennifer Jasinski in the Outstanding Chef category and Frank Bonanno for Outstanding Restaurateur. But when the James Beard Foundation revealed the finalists this week, only two Colorado connections remained: Frasca Food and Wine in the Outstanding Restaurant category, and chef/owner Alex Seidel in the Best Chef: Southwest, for his work at Fruition. The official awards won't be announced until May, but one reader's vote is already in. Says Colin:
Those are seriously the two most overrated restaurants in Colorado. I think Panzano has better Italian food than Frasca, and I wouldn't put either on the same tier as the Lon Symensma's ChoLon or Cho77, Justin Cucci's Root Down or (maybe) Linger, Richard Sandoval's Zengo et al or random gems like Colt & Gray.

Seriously, I really don't see why people go nuts over Frasca in particular; it's good, but the flavors just aren't there for me to consider the restaurant truly exceptional.
What do you think of Frasca? Fruition? What do you consider the best restaurant in Colorado?
