Sunflower Farmers Market, the homegrown, all-natural and organic grocer started by Mike Gilliland in 2003, will open new stores in Lafayette and Thornton tomorrow.

The new stores, which make it an even dozen outlets for Sunflower in this state, are at 555 West South Boulder Road in Lafayette and 1131 East 120th Avenue in Thornton. Both will open with a 6:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, October 20.

Want to bag some more deals? The first 10,000 shoppers will get free reusable bags (empty, though), and the stores will be offering samplings all day, as well as live music in the afternoon and kids' activities ranging from pumpkin painting to hay-bale mazes.

Customers at all twelve Colorado Sunflower locations will be able to enter a grand-opening sweepstakes contest with prizes that include a trip for two to Big Sur, California or or a Boulder International Film Fest Package.

Sunflower now has 34 stores, most of them in the Southwest, as well as three siblings in Texas operating under the name Newflower Farmers Market. For more info on all the stores, go to www.sfmarkets.com .
