Often ranked among the country's best food and wine festivals, the annual Taste of Vail gets under way today and runs through Saturday, April 5. This year's event will host more than thirty chefs and almost 130 wineries; there will be seminars, picnics, dinners, wine tastings, auctions and much much more. As with most things in Vail, you'll have to reach pretty deep into your wallet to enjoy just a taste -- tickets for individual activities start at $50 and full festival passes will set you back $525. If Vail is too pricey or too far, Aurora's Kitchen on the Green at the Expo Recreation Center is offering a course in Mexican cooking tonight. Participants will learn how to make homemade tortilla chips, chile con queso, cheese enchiladas, tostadas, pico de gallo, green and red chile salsas, and Mexican wedding cookies, as well as get tips on drying chiles. The class is $60 or $46 for Aurora residents; for more information on this and other classes, go to the Kitchen on the Green website.
