Labor Day is Monday, bringing with it a long weekend to celebrate the last days of summer. And there's plenty to do both in the mountains and here in the city. A Taste of Colorado will be taking over Civic Center Park, you can head to the hills for a couple of food fests...and a river of beer will be running through it all. Friday, August 29

Last call for Denver Restaurant Week! The first August edition of the decade-old eating orgy officially closes tonight, but some restaurants are extending their menu deals. Find out more here.

Gourmet on Gore kicks off in Vail and will run through the holiday weekend. This unique culinary festival features an open-air tasting with world-class wine, beer and spirits paired with food from Vail's top restaurants. Civic Center Park gets cooking for A Taste of Colorado today. Over fifty Denver eateries and food vendors will be featured; there will also be live music, games and activities for the whole family. Admission to the event is free; purchase food and drink with tickets. Taste runs from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. The Farmland Bacon Club is celebrating International Bacon Day with The Great Bacon Treasure Hunt. This tasty activity will lead participants on a journey to some of Denver's most iconic locations in search of the ultimate pork-tastic prize: One lucky winner will get a year's supply of free bacon, a Bacon Club prize pack and $1,000 cash. Members of the Bacon Club will also be eligible to win a trip to the annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Des Moines. The New Louisville Community Park will host Pints in the Park from noon to 4 p.m. today, with sixteen local breweries handing out samples. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door -- and you get to keep your souvenir pint glass. Purchase tickets here.

Pairing Wine with Spice can create a perfect synergy, according to Blake Eliasson, winemaker at Settembre Cellars, and Dan Hayward, owner of Boulder's Savory Spice Shop. Join them for an evening exploring the interaction of wine with spice as they host a class at Savory Spice Shop starting at 7 p.m. Tuition for the class is $25.

Already had your Taste of Colorado? Head to the mountains and get a Taste of Keystone today. Taste of Keystone will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature some of Keystone's finest cuisine in an idyllic outdoor setting. For more information, visit keystonecolorado.co.

Atticus will be throwing a Cuban-style pig roast served family-style: the seventy-pound Colorado pig will roast for three days and then be served alongside all the fixings, plus a host of traditional Cuban side dishes. Monday, September 1

Frasca is celebrating Labor Day by letting each of the three members of its Sommelier team pick one of their favorite wines from the summer and pair it with a course specifically designed by the kitchen. Lola is hosting a Labor Day picnic from noon to 9 p.m. today, with happy hour drink prices all day. Picnic plates include beef ribs barbacoa, pollo asada, smoked chicken wings, pork shoulder and special tacos; there are also cool desserts like salted caramel ice cream sandwich.
