Before the home-brewing renaissance, there was moonshine, otherwise known as illicitly (or downright illegally) distilled corn whiskey, the granddaddy of do-it-yourself drunkenness.

These days, you can still find moonshiners if you know where to look. Which is what author Max Watman did for his book Chasing the White Dog: An Amateur Outlaw's Adventures in Moonshine.

Watman will discuss and sign the tome at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover, 2526 East Colfax Avenue. Admission is free; call 303-322-7727 or visit www.tatteredcover.com.
