We all know that drinking a glass of red wine a day is good for our health, but did you know that some wines are also good for the environment?

October is Fair Trade Month at Whole Foods, and to help celebrate, Bernard Fontannaz, founder and owner of Origin Wines and winemaker for Fairhills Bus Stop Fair Trade/ Whole Trade wines, has traveled from South Africa to help promote Whole Foods Whole Trade ™ program.

The idea behind purchasing Fair Trade wines is that it'll directly benefit 1,300 small winery and vineyard workers as well as independent farmers and their families in the three major growing regions in the wine world: South Africa, Argentina and Chile.

Fontannaz will autograph bottles and speak about his socially responsible wines at Meet the Winemaker Fair Trade™ Education and Bottle Signing event today at the Tamarac Square Whole Foods Market's Merchant of Vino, 7400 East Hampden Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
