Strange Brewing hosts its weekly One-Barrel Wednesday beginning today at 3 p.m. by tapping Hops of the Rising Sun Pale Ale, which was brewed with 100 percent organic hops from Rising Sun Hop Farm in Paonia.
River North Brewery's Barrel-Aged Wednesday features BPR, its hoppy Belgian-style red ale, aged in whiskey barrels. Tapping is at 3 p.m.

Bristol Brewing in Colorado Springs will release its RyePA (see the label in "Ten Colorado beer labels you'll be seeing soon,") today at 5 p.m. at its brewery. Bristol describes the beer thusly: "With its rich copper color and exquisitely hoppy nose, Bristol's RyePA impresses at the very start. From there, bright, citrusy hop flavor takes center stage, set against a more subtle but solid malt profile. The rye malt lends its characteristic crispness, making this a highly refreshing addition to our Brewhouse Series."

Fort Collins Brewing will give you a chance to talk with Michael Blaschak, the brewer behind Imperial Rye IPA, the latest in the brewery's Incredible Hop series. Blaschak, who has a degree in astrophysics from California Polytechnic,Pomona, "leans on his scientific background to approach recipe formulation from an experimental standpoint," the brewery says. "His latest creation, Incredible Hop: Rye IPA was inspired by his admiration of traditional German beers and a love of bread making. After many years of baking, rye bread has become one of Michael's all time favorites." The Know Your Brewer event takes place at the FCB tasting room from 4 to 7 p.m.

Wynkoop Brewing Company presents its second annual United Tastes of Belgium from 1 to 4 p.m., with samples of Belgian-style beers from Colorado and the United States, along with a choice selection of brews from Belgium itself. Some of these delicious beverages include Arvada Beer Company's Belgian IPA and Belgian Strong Golden Ale; Avery's Salvation, Reverend and White Rascal; Breckenridge Brewery's Elevation Belgian Pale Ale and Peak Six Belgian Vanilla Porter, along with many others. A selection of artisan-style chocolates and Colorado gourmet cheeses will accompany the beers. Tickets are $30 in advance and $37.50 the day of (if any remain).
Copper Kettle will release its Oak Aged Imperial Stout at noon. The jet-black stout was "aged with oak spirals for a smooth and earthy finish." Pete Stein will be playing guitar from 6 to 9 p.m. and the Harvest Food truck will be on hand from 5 to 9 p.m.

Hops & Pie will bring Firestone Walker to the house for its monthly Littlest Big Beer Fest starting at 2 p.m. Enjoy flights and single pours of Parabola Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout, Wookey Jack black rye IPA, Double Double Barrel Ale, Double Jack American Imperial IPA, Solace Summertime Fusion Wheat Beer, and a firkin of UDBA, an unfiltered, cask-style amber ale.

The annual Summer Brew Fest returns to Mile High Station today, featuring 125 different beers from 45 breweries, many in Colorado. General admission tickets are $30 in advance and get you in the door from 7 to 10 p.m. along with a souvenir glass. VIP tickets are sold out. There will be live music from The Paucity. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Swallow Hill Music Association.
Saturday, July 28 Boulder Beer and Kyle Hollingsworth, keyboardist for the String Cheese Incident, will host the third annual Kyle's Brew Fest featuring sixty beers from more than thirty breweries and a performance by the Kyle Hollingsworth Band. Hollingsworth, an avid homebrewer, is a fixture at some of the breweries around Boulder and has brewed collaboration beers with Mountain Sun, Avery and Boulder Beer, among others (some will be on tap at the Fest). His most recent collaboration with Boulder Beer resulted in Hoopla, a nationally-distributed pale ale that will be canned for the first time this summer and will hit stores on July 23. The Fest runs from 3 to 7 p.m. outside the brewery; tickets are $25 and available at www.kylehollingsworth.com. There will also be a silent auction when ticket holders can bid on rock memorabilia and more. Proceeds benefit Conscious Alliance, a Boulder nonprofit.
Join Denver Beer Company and Maple Street Pie Company from 1 to 5 p.m. for a Pies and Pints Festival at the brewery. The two companies will pair pies with three different beers: Key Lime Pie paired with Kaffir Lime Wheat; Apricot Peach Pie with Tart Apricot Ale; and Mexican Chocolate Pie with Chile Stout. There will also be a pie-eating contest at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the doors.

Beers Made by Walking will meet at Strange Brewing at 9 a.m., and lead the first twenty people who sign up at the brewery on a hike through Eldorado Canyon to learn about the edible flora along the way. After the hike, Harry and Tim from Strange will develop a beer inspired by the hike and incorporate some of the plants they learned about. The Beast returns at 6 p.m. Avery Brewing worships the annual return of its 16 percent ABV Grand Cru today -- and the demon ale will have friends as Avery will hold a "guided three-year vertical tasting of his manifestations with a pairing of exquisite culinary confections." Dad & Dude's Breweria will hold a release party for its revamped Dank IPA, which is being brewed and canned under the authority of Bill Eye of Prost Brewing. American Craft Beer Radio will be in the house at noon, and there will be various giveaways from Dad & Dude's, Bartab and Big Shot Bikes.

Avery Brewing will celebrate its nineteenth birthday by throwing its biggest bash of the year from noon to 5 p.m. There will plenty of beer, live music and barbecue. More details to come.

Denver Beer Co will celebrate its first year in business with a block party that includes live music, food trucks and more than a dozen beers on tap. One of them will be Imperial Graham Cracker Porter, a bigger, badder version of the beer that won an award last year at the Great American Beer Festival. The party runs from 2 to 9 p.m.
