Employees of the Denver Post demonstrated in front of their offices today, joined by representatives of the Denver Newspaper Guild and many other production and editorial workers around the city in a protest against Alden Global Capital, the paper's hedge-fund owner that is "systematically destroying" the Post from the inside out, they charged. Speakers included Post staffer Kieran Nicholson and Charley Able, a longtime Rocky Mountain News reporter who's now a Lakewood City Council member; they and others decried another round of buyouts and threatened layoffs at what's been Denver's only daily newspaper since the Rocky closed. The crowd chanted, "When local news is under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back." All photos by Lindsey Bartlett.
