39 Degrees North Fires Up the Art Scene With Handblown Glass

The latitude of Winter Park is 39 degrees north, and 39 Degrees North is the name of the town's new glass gallery, where partners Andrew Lussie and Robert Klancke are all fired up. "At first it was a hobby," says Klancke, "but I found that it's the thing that I want to do every day that will make me happy. And even if it's a little risky, I wish people would just get out and do what makes them happy. Quit your sh*tty job and just do it." A classically trained glass blower, Lussie is honing his skills in the studio. "I'm more of a nerd about it," he says. "I want this clean-looking, that nice-looking. I'm more of a technician than an artist. There's a degree of difficulty and a lot of advanced techniques involved, and I have to have such a plethora of skills to be what I want to be."
