Number 27: Breakfast burrito from Pico de Gallo Mexican Grill

Squadrons of disciples crowd the small dining room of Pico de Gallo, a comradely little joint that churns out some of the best Mexican food in the city, starting with the quad of salsas, bean dip and exemplary mushroom ceviche that hits your table long before you've cracked open the ponderous red, white and green menu that's oiled with all the good stuff -- parrilladas, enchiladas mole, tacos al pastor, camarones a la diabla and coctel de camaron.

But it's the breakfast burrito, which isn't on the printed menu at all, that makes you glad you've secured a parking place in the bumper-to-bumper lot that's often populated with monster trucks, most of them packed with seekers of what should be the most lusted after breakfast burrito in Denver. You'll find it listed on the takeout board above the counter, and by the time everyone else ahead of you has ordered one and paraded the beast past your nose, you'll be clawing your way toward the front of the line. Stuffed with crumbled housemade chorizo, soft scrambled eggs, skin-on diced potatoes, roasted jalapenos, cheese and a ladleful of spicy green chile, which also drapes the bulge, it's everything you'd expect from a bigger-than-your-head breakfast burrito -- and a whole lot more.
