Owner/chef Alec Schuler of Arugula Bar e Ristorante, Tangerine and Amaro Drinkery Italia will be one of four Colorado chefs honored on February 20 for leading the charge on the use of locally grown, raised and processed products.

The American Culinary Federation Colorado Chefs Association partnered with Colorado food-service companies and Colorado Proud to determine which restaurateurs would receive the 2012 Colorado Culinary Award of Excellence.

The other winners are the Chimney Park Restaurant in Windsor, Fresh and Wyld Farmhouse Inn in Paonia, and Flying Fork Café in Paonia. The awards will be presented at the ACF Colorado Chefs Association Presidents Awards Dinner on February 20 at Pinehurst Country Club.

"The Colorado Chefs Association is excited and thrilled to recognize these outstanding chefs and restaurants annually and this year's honorees are all very talented," ACFCCA executive director Joan Brewster said in announcing the winners. "We truly do have some of the very best chefs in the nation here in Colorado, and showing how much we appreciate them with this award of excellence is another way we honor their passion and talents in the industry."
