Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

Earlier today, we offered you a chance to eat free at tonight's Justice League of Street Food party, simply by telling us, in five words or less, why you deserve the prize.

As usual, many of you rose to the occasion, but this time, one entry was set apart.

We're sorry, DenverScener, but this time, we're having a little fun at your expense since you've been so adamantly (and vocally) opposed to these gatherings.

And on that note, our winner is David, who wrote:

I eat while DenverScener whines.

Congratulations, David. We've sent you an e-mail detailing how to claim your prize.

Festivities start tonight at 5 p.m. at the lot at 29th and Huron, and you've got a chance to score more prizes at the 9 p.m. costume contest.

Thanks for playing!

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
